Through Acupuncture we aim to improve the lives and wellbeing of our clients. To this end, the quality and safety of treatments is at the forefront of our mind.

An important aspect is the environmental impact of how we treat. This factor affects not only our current patients but the whole world, now and for generations to come.

We have considered our environmental footprint and examined ways to improve our impact.

Needles and Packaging:

Packaging volume and waste is the most immediately visible environmental issue. Reducing packaging volume without compromising sterility is key, as well as using materials that are more sustainable, biodegradable and/or have less of an impact if processed through landfill or incineration.

Acupuncture needles have been packed in plastic, often combined with paper backing for a long time. Some suppliers now offer biodegradable materials. In any case we aim to separate paper and recyclable materials and use recycling services.

Guide tubes are still mostly plastic. We are using a brand which now offers bamboo guide tubes now and will use those when possible. All waste is recycled.

Millions of Acupuncture Needles are produced using a considerable amount of resources. Most of them are sterilised using Ethylene Oxide gas which gets released into the atmosphere. Many of them are coated with Silicone Oil, only a small amount are coated using medical grade coatings.

We are using uncoated needles or a type coated with Dow Corning® MDX4-4159 50% Medical Grade Dispersion. We do our best to source acupuncture needles which have been sterilised by Gamma Ray and not gas.

We are committed to helping people be healthier and feel happier. To us it is an important part of delivering this service in ways which consider the effects of our services not only in the clinic but as a part of the entire planet.
